- Is this an affiliate or ranking site?
- No. Get Septic Software does not take payment for placement and does not sell featured listings. Pricing and features come from vendor websites and public docs. Where a vendor will not publish a price, we say a quote or demo is required.
- Jobber already quotes our jobs — is that good enough?
- Jobber (and Housecall Pro) will quote a job, text the customer, and send the invoice. They will not store the tank, print a county trip ticket, or log gallons at the plant. If those still live in a binder or a spreadsheet after the truck is washed, a septic-specific tool is the next look — not another horizontal suite.
- How painful is switching mid-season?
- Published-price tools with a trial (PumpDocket 30 days, SepticMind 14 days, SepticCycle same-day setup) are the low-risk path: keep Jobber running while you close a week of routes in the new system. Quote-based platforms (ServiceCore, Hauler Hero, SepTechPro) want a demo and, for ServiceCore, a 6–12 week guided rollout — do not start that the week the county changes ticket rules.
- Will this file our trip tickets, or do we still keep a binder?
- Septic-specific platforms advertise tank records, manifests, and state trip tickets. Coverage is not identical: PumpDocket lists 50-state tickets with enhanced layouts; SepticCycle is strong on TCEQ and land-app logs; ServiceCore supports manifests that may need setup; Hauler Hero is basic manifests only. Horizontal tools have none of that — plan on paper or a second system.
- Why is half the list quote-only?
- ServiceCore, Hauler Hero, and SepTechPro do not publish a rate card. That is a buying signal, not a missing number we can invent. If you need next month's budget without a sales call, start with the published tiers (PumpDocket, SepticMind, SepticCycle, PRO Software, Jobber, Housecall Pro) and only take the demo when mixed-fleet or install work justifies it.
- Will software file our county permits and local forms, or do we still chase paper?
- It can store the tank and print a trip ticket or manifest — it does not replace your county's form. Tools vary: PumpDocket advertises 50-state trip tickets with enhanced layouts; SepticMind publishes a county permit database; SepticCycle is strong on TCEQ reports and land-app logs; ServiceCore and SepTechPro support manifests (ServiceCore may need setup); Hauler Hero is basic manifests only. Jobber and Housecall Pro have none. Check your county's current requirements on a demo. This is editorial, not a paid ranking.
- Can drivers close out a job when the truck is in a dead zone?
- Only some vendors advertise offline field closeout. PumpDocket lists mobile closeout that is offline capable. PRO Software lists an offline driver app for rural routes. A driver app or mobile updates is not the same as capturing notes and photos with no signal and syncing later. Jobber and Housecall Pro are office-and-phone tools first. If your routes go dark, ask the vendor to show an offline closeout — not just a screenshot.
